Thy Will Be Done

YCP Cleveland was graced with the opportunity to hear from Maria Dean, a distinguished career woman, board member of YCP Cleveland, and beloved wife and mother.

Maria provided perspective on the male/female dynamic, highlighting Genesis 5: 1-2.

This is the record of the descendants of Adam. When God created human beings, he made them in the likeness of God; he created them male and female. When they were created, he blessed them and named them humankind.”

The second point Maria emphasized is the necessity of learning true humility. For those who are Catholic business men and women, humility is the key to success. God the Father gave us a prayer that in and of itself reflects humility - that prayer is the “Our Father.”

“Our Father, Who art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. “

The third thought of the evening was that men and women need to work toward the greater glory of God. Without God as a part of our lives we cannot possibly succeed. Maria emphasized the need for God to inform our actions in civil society, noting that “this is why the Founding Fathers so often wrote about the need for self-restraint and the need for good and moral men in order for the republic to survive.” In order for our society to become the nation and people we were meant to be, we the people of faith must stand tall and take a stand in spreading the good news of our faith to the ends of the earth.
